Emily here...
Hey!
Thank you so much for looking around, I have just created this new site in January of 2023 so welcome to my new home! I have always been an artist at heart. During college, I worked in a custom framing gallery which gives me so much more understanding about design, display & presentation, art mediums, framing materials, preservation, and a proper underanding of framing my own artwork. I'm always using my framing skills within my photography. It's kind of a secret weapon I feel. I completed my B.F.A. in Graphic Design in 2008 and continued to develope my photography skills on the side post college as a hobbiest photographer.
By 2011, I picked up a bit more speed shooting more for clients, mostly doing portraits for families and children, with a variety of other things in between. Today, my scope includes family, children, seniors, events including anniversary celebrations, school events & dances, and also engagements and weddings which are a bit more here and there. I'm first and foremost a stay at home mom and wife to my young family and do my best to balance it all.
I put my heart and soul into everything I do and never give you anything I wouldn't want myself. Some of my favorite shots are things you'll never expect; a scrunched up nose on a toddler, a gaze into the deep, a tear rolling off a face, a sweet kiss from grandma, etc. I'm always looking for the REAL moment. The posed shot is always nice to have, but I also want to capture the real expressions too. I love a journalistic style for most of my work. I want you to walk away with a visual story from this moment in time. My sessions move at the pace of your crew, and (not to brag) but I can usally get kids to relax around me fairly quickly. I'll warm up to them and let them get comfortable when they feel like it.
Lastly, when my clients message me after viewing their galleries telling me they are in happy tears and can't decide between their pictures, I know I definately did my job. ;) Ok, my self TED talk has ajurned. If there's anything you would like to discuss with me, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Many blessings to you, ~Emily
